Why is Using a Gas Safe Registered Engineer Important?

Appliance’s that use gas, such as your boiler are safe if installed by a gas safe registered engineer but could be fatal if installed by someone unqualified, that’s why it’s crucial to check our your engineer gas safe logo and ask to see their gas safe ID.

The Gas safe register is the UK’s list of gas companies and engineers that are registered to work safely and legally on boilers, cookers and other gas appliances. By law all gas engineers must be on the gas safe register which you can find here https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/.


Checking Your Engineers Gas Safe Card

All gas safe registered engineers are issued a ID card and on that card will be a different licence number so its always good to check your engineers ID card before any work is carried out.

On the front of ID card be sure to check:

  • The engineer’s photo
  • The start and expiry dates
  • The licence number
  • The security hologram

On the back of the ID card be sure to check:

  • The engineer is qualified to carry out the job you have employed them to do
  • That their qualifications are up to date
